“Some people become cops because they want to make the world a better place. Some people become vandals because they want to make the world a better looking place"

~ Banksy

The city of Chiang Mai is a mecca for lovers of street art. Around every corner the colorful streets are amazing as they exhibit quality graffiti pieces on various walls. The bright colors, the designs, I was in street art heaven. Even graffiti aficionados and veterans from New York were impressed with the art shared from Thailand.

Growing up in Brooklyn, graffiti was everywhere. Some just throw up tags and others have a knack for developing artsy pieces on sides of buildings or any available wall. The fascination with beautiful street art has always lingered in the back of my head as I subconsciously looked for it during every trip outside the United States. Finding pieces in many different corners of the world like Ibiza and Barcelona in Spain, Lisbon in Portugal, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Gili Trawangan in Indonesia and as well as many other places. Abundance of different art pieces, styles, and artists are sprawled all around Chiang Mai. There were so many walls to see, the decision was made to “chase the Graf” while staying in this awesome city. The goal in mind was to share the awesomeness with you and the world.

While exploring the city I stumbled upon everything from Super Mario Bros. to cuddly bears to a furiously hairy naked guy. It wasn’t even the pieces them selves, it was the amount of detail they possessed. Every turn I took I was amazed with the vibrant colors. A lot of the pieces found were not far from the Lanna Tree Boutique hotel located around the Mueang Chiang Mai District. So if you happen to be in the neighborhood I strongly recommend strolling around and checking out the art pieces. It’s free, a nice walk near the residential area and a very safe neighborhood. It has awesome street food stalls and yummy iced coffees, what else could you possibly ask for? Get lost in the city and you won’t regret it. Happy hunting, hopefully you catch some eye candy🙂
